Waging Joyfare
The other day I heard from a colleague of mine that one of our mutual students didn’t want to attend their final class for fear of it being a lighthearted end-of-year conversation. They worried in this moment, globally, lightheartedness was unacceptable. My heart broke when I heard this second-hand story, both because I deeply understand their conflict, and because I am aching to impart in young people how important and resourcing joy is right now.
I have already written about Why I think it’s important, so I’ll spare you a recap. Instead I thought I’d share a bit of How. These are just a few ways I’ve been attempting to wage joyfare out in the world, with actions that both nourish me, and, I think, fill up the cups of others.
