Kid Prompts: Draw With Me, Episode 4
There’s little I can do about my country waging war. There’s little I can do about the destruction of the planet around me, human-made starvation, sadism. Not nothing, but little. There was a part of me, waking up to the devastating news this morning, that thought it was not the time to post about how to draw shadows for kids.
But the truth is, there may be a day when I am in a bunker, or I am in a war-torn area, here or elsewhere, where the greatest service I can offer is to teach children to draw and to love their mistakes. To teach 20 somethings to be kind and observant. To help others and myself to make art in the face of destruction. To witness and eat the perfect berry on the end of the branch, as we cling to it, hanging over a cliff, a tiger at our backs.
So why stop now.
Here is Draw With Me! Episode 4, with a pigeon from Beau’s episode, a tree branch from Gavin’s, and a bucket of snowballs from Frida’s.
June 29 and July 6 keep your eyes peeled for two bonus Kid Prompts episodes (which will include Draw With Me segments), after which I’ll be mostly on break through late August.
(With perhaps a drawing or some writing here and there through the summer. We’ll see.)
With love to ALL - including those who would destroy me and others.
